For decades, Ravne na Koroškem has been a well-known sports centre in the Koroška region. In the 1960s the steel mill's planned investments in sports standards laid the foundation for building a modern sports complex, which today boasts a complete service both for local athletes and the general public, and offers a wide variety of activities throughout the year. If you want to actively spend your free time, there are several options available, such as the public outdoor Olympic-sized pool, indoor pool, a modern stadium, game courts and halls, a tennis centre and the Poseka ski slope with snowmaking capabilities and lighting for night skiing.
The Sports Centre next to the Secondary School houses an indoor pool measuring 25 x 10 m, a basketball and volleyball court, table tennis room, a four lane nine-pin bowling alley, fitness area, saunas and steam rooms (Finnish, herbal, Turkish and infrared), chess room, aerobics, rhythmic gymnastics, table tennis, judo and martial arts halls. The complex includes a modern stadium with a 6-lane running track, a football pitch and 350-seat bleachers, a tarmac basketball court, AstroTurf football pitch, three clay tennis courts and a beach volleyball court. The public pool doesn't have just an Olympic-sized pool, but also a kiddy pool, a waterslide and a ramp.
The Ravne na Koroškem Sports Complex is integrated in the urban natural environment and the Mežica Valley, between the Peca and St. Ursula Mountain. It offers exceptional possibilities for spending free time actively and is a great starting point for trips into the great outdoors.
